Many students find their way to yoga to reduce stress. Our busy lives create an imbalance which places emphasis on productivity and action and leaves little time for renewal and self-care. This imbalance can result in anxiety, stress, and even illness. Vigorous exercise, including a vinyasa or flow yoga practice, is essential to our health and well being, but to truly find balance, we also need to find time for deep relaxation.
In this two hour workshop we will discuss the effects of stress on the body and the role of the nervous system on our health and well being. We will look at common restorative poses and the use of props to support our students or ourselves in them. This includes supporting students with physical limitations or illness and how to know when an adjustment or assist is appropriate. We will talk about the benefits of specific restorative poses and sequencing them for a well rounded restorative practice or class. We will end with a restorative practice.
This workshop is appropriate for yoga teachers, students of yoga teacher trainings, and anyone interested in learning more about restorative yoga.
This course qualifies for Yoga Alliance Continuing Education hours.
